Dr. Shawn M. Fouts, Executive Director

Dr. Shawn Fouts came to Worth the Wait in November of 2007 as Executive Director. Previously, Shawn served as Associate Director of the Jack B. Kelley Student Center at West Texas A&M University, with primary emphasis on Student Leadership Development. Prior to that he served as Dean of Students at College of the Southwest in Hobbs, NM. Shawn is married to Rochelle and has three beautiful daughters; Corinna, Megan and Emily, as well as the family dog, Coal Miner.

Interesting Fact: Shawn has also been a youth pastor, senior pastor, police officer and SWAT officer and a college administrator.

 

Teresa Hillman, Administrative Coordinator

Teresa Hillman came to Worth the Wait in December 2002 as the Administrative Assistant for the Amarillo Office. She is retired from the City of Amarillo after 25 years of service. Her background is Accounting with emphasis on Grant Management. Teresa and her husband, Mike, have two daughters, Jennifer and Amy.

Interesting Fact: Teresa got her first tattoo when she turned 50 years old!

 

Jenifer Martin, Administrative Assistant

Jenifer Martin started working at Worth the Wait in November 2007. Living in Amarillo since she was 4 years old, Jenifer was glad to get a job at a local organization where she could feel right at home, while also making such a huge difference in so many teenagers' lives. Her educational background is in accounting, and she is currently working toward completing her bachelor's degree. Jenifer enjoys spending time with her husband, Dennis, and the rest of her family as well. She also enjoys spending time outdoors.

Interesting Fact: Jenifer just got married four months (July 2007) before she started working at Worth the Wait!

 

April Smith, Development Director 

April Smith joined the Worth the Wait team in March 2008. She has an associate's degree in Paralegal Studies from Lamson College, bachelor's degree in Psychology from Ottawa University and a Certificate in Interior Design from the Design Center Institute. April was born and raised in Billings, Mont., but moved to the Texas Panhandle in August 2005. April and her daughter, Caitlin, currently live in Amarillo. April's favorite thing about her job is the people she works with because they all share a passion for a purpose to better communities while having fun in the process.

Interesting Fact: April would like to go back to school to get her master's degree in Pastor Counseling sometime in the future.

 

Vanessa Valenzuela-Allen, Education Coordinator

Vanessa Allen joined Worth the Wait in 2006. She is a 2002 graduate of West Texas A&M University. Before coming to Worth the Wait, Vanessa worked at Panhandle Child Placement Services (PCPS) as a case manager. She graduated high school from Higgins and has lived in Amarillo for eight years. In her spare time, Vanessa enjoys spending time with her dog, Blitz, and her beloved friends.

Interesting Fact: Vanessa does not have a MySpace profile!

 

Joseph Mares, Hispanic Outreach and Community Involvement Coordinator

Joseph Mares began working at Worth the Wait in January 2008. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Education, with a double major in Spanish and Physical Education from Wayland Baptist University. He was raised in Dumas. After living in Plainview for several years and working there after college, he decided to move back to Dumas and raise his two children, Natalie and Nathan. Joseph is eager to be a part of Worth the Wait and is glad to get the opportunity to be a part of changing peoples' lives.

Interesting Fact: Joseph enjoys singing and playing the guitar.

 

Nicole Turner, Research and Media Coordinator

Nicole Turner joined the Worth the Wait staff in January 2008. A fresh college graduate, Nicole is excited about being part of the organization because she truly believes in the value of teaching students about abstinence until marriage. Nicole received her Bachelor of Science degree from West Texas A&M University in 2006, and her Mater of Journalism degree from the University of North Texas in 2007. Nicole was raised in the Texas Panhandle and is from Booker. After living in Denton for a year and a half, she missed her home roots so much that she decided to move back to the Panhandle to start her career.

Interesting Fact: Working for Worth the Wait is Nicole's first professional, full-time job. And she loves Taco Villa!

 

Rosemary Koetting, Nurse Educator

Rosemary Koetting moved to Canadian from Hereford in August 2003. She has been an R.N. since 1991, with background in obstetrics and pediatrics.
