
Dr. Jeff Tanner spent eight years in marketing and sales with
Rockwell International and Xerox Corporation. In 1988, Dr. Tanner
earned his Ph.D. from the University of Georgia and joined the
faculty at Baylor University, where he serves as the Associate Dean
for Research and Faculty Development. An internationally-recognized
expert in several marketing areas, he has taught executives and
graduate programs in Canada, Mexico, Trinidad, France, and India, as
well as across the United States.
Starting in 1987, his social
marketing research has focused on promoting healthy lifestyles,
particularly abstinence among adolescents. Dr. Tanner’s research on
social marketing has won awards from the American Marketing
Association, the Society for Marketing Advances, and others. He has
published nearly sixty research articles in various journals, most
recently the Journal of Public Policy & Marketing, Health
Marketing Quarterly, Journal of Consumer Psychology, and
Psychology & Marketing.
Dr. Tanner has
also consulted with a number of clients, including IBM, Pak-Sher and
others. Research clients include Hillcrest Medical System, CEIR,
HealthCare Exhibitors Association, Worth the Wait, Shannon Community
Health System, PowerCord, and others. Client research projects have
included feasibility studies, focus group studies evaluating
programs and advertising campaigns, and surveys of customers and
non-customers to determine effective segmentation strategies. His
research has supported social marketing campaigns that have won
multiple Addy and Telly awards at both local and national levels.
